Our History
The magic that drives our incredible technology actually comes from a long legacy of a man, a studio and dozens of the most talented artists that ever lived.
The man is Tony Bongiovi, who, in 1977 built the world’s most famous recording studio: Power Station. Due to its breakthrough acoustical design and engineering, the Power Station Studios in NYC became the facility of choice for artists including Madonna, AC/DC, Bryan Adams, Aerosmith, The Beach Boys, Bon Jovi, Mariah Carey, Eric Clapton, Miles Davis, Bob Dylan, Grateful Dead, Whitney Houston, Billy Joel, B.B. King, Paul McCartney, Willie Nelson, The Rolling Stones, Bruce Springsteen, Sting, Barbara Streisand, Neil Young, and many more.
Now, years later the same acoustical engineering magic that made some of the biggest hits in the world has been captured in a patented technology that fits on a chip no larger than a fingernail.
Tony, along with a highly talented team of engineers, sound designers and business strategists have created this incredible technology that easily integrates with any consumer electronics device; and regardless of hardware limitations, dramatically enhances it’s sound. The Bongiovi team has worked together for over a decade to bring this technology to the marketplace.

Background
The world famous Power Station Studios is without question the undisputed platinum standard for recording studio design and operations today. The studio is the vision of legendary recording engineer and producer Tony Bongiovi. Tony got his start at the age of seventeen, when he became an engineer at Detroit’s Motown Records, and throughout his career has worked in the finest studios around the world.
In the early seventies, while producing hit records at Media Sound in New York City, Tony recognized the need for a new, radically different approach to hit-making. In 1977 he conceived, designed and built the world-renowned Power Station Studio Complex in Midtown Manhattan.
Power Station quickly grew into a huge commercial success. Its unique and spectacular acoustic characteristics took the industry by storm. Power Station became recognized as "the room" to use for recording. It’s client list reads like a who’s-who of the recording industry, attracting clients from around the globe.
The Power Station received every major award that the industry has to offer including Mix Magazine’s prestigious TEC Award (Technical Excellence and Creativity) as Studio of the Year for an unprecedented 6 years, the maximum number permitted.
Power Station was also the first recipient of the recording industry’s highest honor: The Les Paul Award. This is a special achievement award that was bestowed upon Power Station for its consistent contributions to audio excellence and creativity.
In the mid-1990’s, Power Stations design was licensed to Sonalysts, Inc., A Connecticut based, engineering company that specializes in defense department contracts and private sector projects. Power Station is part of a world-class, award winning facility that includes film production facilities, shooting stages and an animation center. Sonalysts’ Power Station Studios New England continues the excellence associated with the Power Station name, serving the defense department, its contractors and the private sector.
Today, the Bongiovi Acoustics team continues the traditions of Power Station Studios bringing unique, cutting edge design and high-quality sound to consumers all over the world.
Born in the studio, the DPS technology now brings studio quality sound to everyday consumer electronics.
